“Si no luchamos por nuestros derechos nosotros mismos, nadie los hará valer por nosotros”, fue la
reflexión de Óscar Daniel Rodríguez Fuentes sobre los logros y retos de la comunidad LGBTTTIQ+
en el camino por un ejercicio efectivo de sus derechos en la vida político-electoral del país.
En un balance general del panorama de la diversidad, no sólo en México, sino a nivel
latinoamericano, el consejero del Instituto Electoral de Coahuila apuntó que las principales tareas
de la comunidad en estos tiempos son seguir generando visibilidad y conseguir una representación
que tenga un conocimiento auténtico de las necesidades e inquietudes del grupo.
«La visibilización es lo que hace falta. Es, desde mi perspectiva, el reto que hay que enfrentar. Es
venir y decir ‘oye, ya me respetas en esto, pero falta que yo mismo, con mi conocimiento, incida
en las políticas públicas que se van a hacer para el grupo al que pertenezco’”, dijo el funcionario,
quien integra el Comité de Paridad e Inclusión en su entidad, durante su intervención en el Foro de
los derechos político-electorales de la población LGBTTTI+.
Por ello, aplaudió que durante el evento se abordara el tema de las llamadas “cuotas arco iris”
mecanismo que permitiría a la comunidad LGBTTTI+ garantizar su representación en el Congreso
local, a obligarse a los partidos a incluir para dicho proceso electoral una cantidad mínima de
candidatos pertenecientes a esa comunidad.
Rodríguez Fuentes reconoció que se han logrado importantes avances en los últimos años. Tan
sólo en comparación con la década de los noventa, dijo, se cuentan logros como el matrimonio
igualitario, la adopción homoparental y otros derechos sociales en algunos lugares.
No obstante, destacó que aún hay espacios donde la diversidad sigue siendo castigada, por lo que
urgió a la comunidad a involucrarse de manera más activa en la vida política, recordando que sólo
una persona que ha estado sometida a la discriminación interseccional de la heteronorma puede
actuar con auténtica consciencia sobre los cambios que se tienen que aplicar desde la ley.
Para lograr esto, destacó, es importante que las personas de la diversidad puedan sumarse a los
espacios públicos que existen, y comentó que, pese a la falta de voluntad política de algunos
partidos de cobijar la diversidad, se deben buscar los movimientos que les puedan dar voz y voto.
Óscar Daniel habló de las personas de la diversidad, en especial de las personas trans, como
personajes subversivos, a quienes les ha tocado romper los estándares e ideas de cómo deben ser
las personas.
Recordó que este grupo ha expuesto que quisieran tener la vida de un hombre blanco y católico; y
es que, aunque las personas se resistan a ver la heteronorma como un privilegio, lo es; pero no
debería serlo, pues se trata de aspectos de respeto y dignidad humana al que todas las personas
deberían poder acceder, sin importar su identidad, expresión u orientación sexual.
Dijo que, en la actualidad, la idea marxista de la lucha de clases se ha transformado en los últimos
años, y no solamente es una idea de clase basada en la clase social, sino también en las diferencias
étnicas, culturales, religiosas y políticas.

Desde su experiencia, consideró que el caminar de la comunidad hacia la vida política fue como
salir del clóset, pues, al intentar ocupar espacios en el escenario social, la población LGBT se
escondió por un miedo inherente a ser agredida o descalificada, como a muchos les pasó cuando
hablaron de su identidad dentro de sus propias familias.
Después, es miedo se transformó en lucha. “Comenzamos a defendernos de un sistema
heteropatriarcal que no solamente violenta a las mujeres, sino a otros grupos que no se adaptan a
la medida heteronormativa”.
Finalmente llegó el punto en que se creó una comunidad, y en conjunto empezó a haber una
exigencia del respeto a las garantías individuales de sus integrantes: “empezamos a exigir el
respeto de los otros, los que nos ven como diferentes, pero a su vez decimos “sí somos diferentes,
pero también tenemos los derechos que ustedes tienen, y nosotros también los queremos para
nosotros”.
El Consejero hizo un llamado a mantener la lucha que inició hace tiempo y ha ido rindiendo
grandes frutos, pero también avista una serie de retos nuevos. Y dijo;
“Tenemos que aprender a convivir como una sociedad que se respeta y que respeta a los demás,
independientemente de las ideas que tengamos cada uno de nosotros”.
